DescriptionThis course aims to introduce the concept of eXplainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI). The course will broadly cover the current XAI research landscape and provide a practical primer. We present this course for the SIGGRAPH Asia audience to: (1) relate the critical importance of XAI in an increasingly Machine Learning saturated world, (2) provide a background to the subject as well as an overview of the research and its related challenges and (3) equip the audience with some practical experience, focused on visualization, that they can implement within their own projects. This course is an introductory level course, aimed at a wide audience without prerequisites or restrictions. For machine learning experts, the course will introduce them to the state-of-the-art of XAI enabling them to apply this directly to their work. The less expert audience will still take away the importance of XAI to the future of machine learning as well as a high-level understanding of both the techniques described and XAI broadly.
